The Freibergers – in addition to the Einsiedlers – are Switzerland's only native horse breed. The animals originate from the mountains and are ridden and driven as well as being used for ploughing.

Today they prove their flexibility under the Western saddle, actively in harness or as an all-round leisure horse. 60 Freiberger stallions and 10 warmbloods stand at the historic stallion depot in order to improve breeding throughout the country.
